Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded?

No. The image is decoded and recompressed in your browser in this Version 1 implementation.

Why might a PNG not get much smaller?

PNG is a lossless format, and some PNGs are already optimized. Converting to JPG or WebP can produce a much smaller file when transparency is not needed.

Will converting a transparent PNG keep transparency?

No. JPG does not support transparency, and the current WebP/JPG conversion path paints the image onto a white background.
